Standards and Packaging

The criteria required by importers are based primarily on :

• Quality : dry, healthy beans, free from insects and mold ;
• Variety : Exporters must be able to properly separate varieties during sorting (marbled, red, white, etc.) ;
• Foreign matter : stones and sand, which are excluded from the product to be exported.

Packaging consists of cleaning, sorting, grading, and bagging.

Storage

For proper preservation, the moisture content of the beans must be quickly reduced to around 15%, then slowly to 8 to 10%. The storage period at the exporters' warehouse varies between 3 and 6 months.
